Do you have any evidence that he did?

1) You can see replies/sent messages in Conversation/Threaded view (I do this). Unfortunately I don't recall exactly how I set this up, but this might get you there: https://www.reddit.com/r/Thunderbird/comments/tvb02t/show_re...

2) Expression Search NG might solve your search issues: https://addons.thunderbird.net/en-us/thunderbird/addon/expre...

On your #1 issue: it’s a well-known and acknowledged problem. Basically, the current Thunderbird doesn’t have unique message IDs across folders, which causes issues when displaying messages from different folders in threaded view. One of the common workarounds involves making copies of Sent messages in other folders like INBOX.

There’s a major internal message storage rework project happening in Thunderbird, which should fix this once completed. You can try it in some beta builds, but of course, it’s still beta and isn’t compatible with some plugins yet. Most notably, the TBSync plugin, which provides Microsoft Outlook integration, doesn’t support it at this stage.

That is weird, because it works for me and I've never noticed, that it didn't worked in the past. (Thunderbird 115.5.0 on Debian)

Isn't VaultWarden what you want?

https://github.com/dani-garcia/vaultwarden

Vaultwarden is an open source implementation of the BitWarden backend, I don’t think OP is trying to run his own server

VaultWarden is only the server so far. OP is probably looking for a more “complete” provider with clients for different platforms etc.

> The problem is more likely a lack of prioritization at the leadership level.

Great. If you're in leadership why would you prioritize a feature making it easier for people to leave your platform when you could instead prioritize a new feature that might generate value for the company?

There's no incentive to make Takeout any better than it is today.

False. If there's an army of people saying it's impossible to leave Google then fewer will use it.

I've been across the both. They are not the same!

I'm sure. I have two in my house and they're purring right along.

She lost her son of 17 years only 5 months ago. With no additional details, I know where my mind goes.

Edit: whatever article I read said 5 months ago, but that appears to have been written some time ago. Plenty of articles stating that Shane died in Jan/2022:

https://duckduckgo.com/?t=ffab&q=shane+oconnor+wikipedia&ia=...

...Where does it go?

> I’ve decided to follow my son. There is no point living without him. Everything I touch, I ruin. I only stayed for him. And now he’s gone,” she wrote on an unverified Twitter account linked to her official account.

heart breaking to hear :(

Can't really think of anything worse than losing a kid to suicide. The guilt, warranted or not must be crushing.

> Shane died in January 2022. A week later, following a series of tweets in which she indicated that she was going to kill herself, O'Connor was hospitalised.

Many artists die from suicide. When a young artist dies, I usually assume drugs or suicide.

> I usually assume drugs or suicide.

And sometimes it's hard to discern one from the other.

Occasionally it's cancer though

My mind goes to suicide.

Sure, but I’m certain that random internet speculation helps no one at this point.

It's not really random though.

She's announced she was going to do it before and to be fair she's always had more than her fair share of mental troubles, sadly. As someone who is also cursed with those I know how hard that can be and I didn't even lose a child.

Withholding the cause is what leads to speculation and I don't think it's a bad guess in this case.

Personally I think it's better if they just announced it because believe it or not something like this can also lead to good things. Because it can make people think, realise these things happen and notice the signs in people around them.

And say what you want about her, but nobody ever said she was one for wavering. In everything she did she committed to and knew all about owning consequences.

If she was suicidal, and she had the track record, she was well able to have follow through on this also.

Whatever you believe, just for her sake, I genuinely hope she's now reunited with her son to get some peace.

There would have been no speculation if the family had stated an uncontroversial cause of death. Instead they "requested privacy", which means it was likely something people would have judged her for.

That just means suicide and the press usually doesn’t publish it to not encourage copycats.

> This goes on here, on Reddit, Twitter, wherever a discussion about Musk arises. The only difference between HN and Reddit on this topic is that HN is slightly more highbrow, although the same general attacks get repeated here as they do on Reddit.

My casual observation says that HN has become more "Reddit-Like" in terms of low quality and off-topic posting since the whole Reddit API/MOD debacle.

And yes, I see the irony. I get it.

> My casual observation says that HN has become more "Reddit-Like" in terms of low quality and off-topic posting

People have been saying this pretty much as long as HN has been around

I think the more likely explanation is that the low-quality content has always been here, it's just more or less visible depending on which topics you visit and what's happening in the world.

This place was IMHO pretty toxic during the pandemic. It felt like half of the threads were some covid-related "controversies" and the other half was about whether or not WFH is a fundamental human right.

These events caused major shifts in a very short time. Seems understandable that something so invasive as Covid and life-changing as work from home would be at the front of many people’s minds.

Yes, it's definitely understandable, just saying that the quality of comments around that time was IMHO pretty bad

> Are breweries typically insanely profitable? My understanding is they are like a commodity/staples business with tight margins.

I own a bit of a brewery and have learned a bit about the business in the past 7 years.

No, breweries are not insanely profitable. You might think that they are if you simply look at grain to glass and forget about everything in between.

Those in between parts are real estate/rent, equipment, chemicals, packaging costs (equipment, labor, consumables), employees, taproom expenses, marketing, and finally, the worst, distribution expenses.

It's been a fun ride and I'm glad I'm involved, but insanely profitable just isn't the case.

Absolutely correct. Also fractional owner of a local brewer for a decade or so. Defintely not insanely profitable. As stated above distribution costs/complications and associated laws are often overlooked. Merchants and bars are a finicky bunch. Taproom sales can fluctuate a lot.

To be honest, to me it sounds like there isn't even that much profit even if we just consider grain to glass. I'm totally uneducated about the subject but it seems like you need quite a lot of grain for beer, and beer is quite cheap... Larger brewers make sense but for smaller ones, either their beer is super expensive or I'm missing something!

I don't drink alcohol so to be fair my knowledge is mostly coming from friends getting trashed on cheap Pabst Blue ribbon lol.

In addition to changing passwords (one unique and complex password per site), now is a great time to simply delete accounts that you no longer use.

When I started using a password manager I did this: change repeating passwords, and delete info on sites I don't use any more. JustDeleteMe [0] has a good list of account deletion methods and links for different pages.

[0] https://justdeleteme.xyz/index.html

Not all sites offer that, especially smaller ones. I've had to deal with this before, and even emailing every contact email I could find doesn't help. I ended up changing the passphrases of all the other services instead.

Sadly that's either obscure or unavailable for majority of sites.

(similarly and a major peeve - vast majority of signup verification emails do not have a "no this is NOT me that signed up, delete this email" option! My email gets misused a lot in some countries where my name is common and I have no easy recourse to deny it)
