I am lucky to read this after before deciding to update. Unforunately did update to the new ios and it's incredibly ugly. Wish there would have been an easy way to roll back on iphone
Well obviously yes, namecheap have been around a very long time and after GoDaddy (the default in the early 2000s for most people) Namecheap became a kind of default. One would think that a company with an online presence going back over two decades, and one a relatively low number of domain registrars, is "globally recognised".
Whether they're "good" or even "passable" is another matter entirely, but without switching away from Google to Namecheap for a few months, one wouldn't have much of an idea. And now I know.
How many really decent email providers are there aside from Google? What's today's obvious choice? And will they last?
I find it surprising NameCheap is taken as default on some markets. From where I am from. NameCheap emerged is fairly recent service provider. While their services are shall we say "passable", the support is where it is absolutely atrocious. It seems like they hire eastern european staff just to explain you that you are the problem. Even GoDaddy is not famous for doing it.
Talking about decent emails providers can get discussion heated quite shortly. Historically I arrange most important chunck of mail as self hosted, but of course it's not the way many people would take.
Probably so. My volume is around 750k email per day roughly.
Recently they started tinkering with spam filter, which worked fairly well before. Now it doesnt work - good mails go to spam, spam garbage goes inbox. Support tried - I'll give them that - but almost all their advises were either not working or working just partially.
My guess is they integrating "AI" with spam filter, hence the quality decline.
I use just use help-> Open ticket and getting one response per day (this is to address timely responses). Granted I am in UTC+7, but from company as big as FastMail you would expect support around the clock.
Your child related expenses are not “given”, other taxpayers have paid for it. And for them, they have very little given back, if we factor in very high tax load in Japan.
Just because someone ride the wave of payouts for kids doesn’t mean government is giving back a lot. Japanese government, just like any other government out there, extremely inefficient and corrupt, absorbing huge amounts of money in taxes and giving very little back. Particularly to those who actually earn those money.
In Japanese culture recommendations (for lack of better word in translation) carry quite different load in comparison to western society. It’s usually accepted and followed (unlike west where recommendations are usually ignored)
> Just as the engine replaced physical strength, artificial intelligence, through models like large language models, is now replacing cognitive labor and thought.
Curious how the "AI" going to replace thought, as it is incapable if creating anything. Its just statistically matching data patterns for G-d's sake, don't make it something anything beyond that
meanwhile you're not even doing it statistically, you're just (deterministically) parroting the same argument that was already bad taste 10 years ago
quantum mechanics is just linear algebra, chemistry is just quantum mechanics, biology is just chemistry, and thus human intelligence is just linear algebra, so what's the problem? what else do you want from a mathematical framework, other than the ability to describe the system you need to describe?
