Because sometimes you are expected to write working code on whiteboard. Once interviewer was typing code I wrote on laptop and interrupting me on errors he had.
I won't switch from Mac anytime soon, but competition is always good. Can't wait to see how Apple will respond to latest Microsoft actions (WSL, Surface Book and Surface Studio).
if it responds. apple looks more and more like a luxury goods company and the things you mention aren't that. (not saying it won't, but i'm pretty sure 'how' isn't a certainty.)
Python can be compiled, interpreted, or translated into smoke signals and reconstituted on the other side of the valley. It is not per se any of these things.
because it doesn't. What they're doing is borderline crazy. Similar to turning off the GC in the JVM... once you reach that point why not just use a more suitable language?
Java/Golang/Rust/C++/C# are all about 100X faster than Python. Wouldn't it be more reasonable to use one of those than mess with the runtome to squeeze out 20% more performance?
