Same, I love it because it will stop me from mindlessly scrolling. My only complaint is that if I actually wait, the next ad doesn't come soon enough.

His campaign messages weren't outright extremist, just your casual populism, impossible promises and a dash of dogwhistles. Once he won the first round of elections, people really started to look into his past and it's pretty insane.

I think he is legitimately insane. He fits schizotypal personality disorder to a T. Multiple psychologists told me he fits.

Did you forget about the 32x and the Mega CD? We're back in the golden age of the Sega Genesis.

The Atari Jaguar also had a CD add-on.

They're selling a fake relationship and taking advantage of lonely people. Sellling porno flicks is much more honest.

what data? I've only heard this from the "manosphere".

OkCupid posted some stats in a blog post years ago which was pretty enlightening. They since deleted it, and I don’t think any dating company would dare make a similar post with the data they have these days.

Waze sort-of does this, it tries to keep you moving by taking lots of left turns and side streets. I hate it :).

As a pedestrian, please don't use scooters on the sidewalk.

What I see here, in the US, is mostly schoolkids using scooters to go to school as an alternate to bikes (which they also ride on the sidewalk).

Agreed that a mix of scooters/bikes and pedestrians on the sidewalk isn't ideal, but better than the alternative of having the kids on the road, since scooters and bikes (esp. driven by kids) don't mix well with cars and trucks either.

Other countries solve this better with safe bike lanes, etc.

In my US city, it is specifically illegal to ride a bike, escooter, or similar on the sidewalks. I rarely see children biking on the sidewalks -- they stick to the bike paths.

I really wish that the police would enforce the ban better, though. Accidents on the sidewalks are pretty common, and I've even been yelled at by bicyclists for daring to walk on the sidewalk.

It convinced me not to buy a new Iphone because Apple is acting like a big baby.

Dogs are very social and they love to be with their humans, your pet is not going to be happier being left alone in the back yard than lounging on the couch with you.

I do not see where the parent poster advocated for leaving a dog alone in the back yard.

They didn't, I'm pointing out that the problem isn't the space (apartment), but that owners aren't providing adequate stimulation and companionship for the dogs.

His short stories are also hilarious and in the same vein as Svejk's adventures.

Yes, they are only hilarious. Švejk on the other hand is in my opinion much more serious. One Czech literary critic call it even “Kafka by other means”. Yes, Hašek was a satiric writer, so that’s how he wrote, but Švejk is IMHO actually a serious book about the horror of a human being liquidated by the impersonal power of modern society.

> about the horror of a human being liquidated by the impersonal power of modern society

it is now forbidden to call war by its name ? /s

I've enjoyed Švejk's adventures, but never read any Hašek's short stories. Can you recommend a particular one you like?

There was a recent collection of new translations of his stories, many of which had never previously appeared in English. They’re not ideal in that the translations are translations of a German edition of his stories and not the original Czech texts, but they’re still a fun read.
