Arq Backup 7 Released (arqbackup.com)

I've bought lots of licenses for Arq over the last few years, for multiple Macs and PCs, both at work and home.

Every review I read about Arq seems to be broadly positive. HN types seem to like it.

An yet on every single machine I've used it on, over the last 2-3 years, Windows or Mac, I've had random errors, bugs and persistent backup failures. Their support is responsive but even if the problems are solved they seem to return again.

There is a lot to like about Arq, and maybe it's just me, but it's hard work to keep it on the straight and narrow.

Strangely though, I persist. I think because I know what the alternatives are like (eg. TimeMachine isn't much better in my experience).

Downloading 7 now to see if it's the Arq gremlin panacea I've been waiting for....

I should add, I'm always aware of the backup failures - I haven't come across a scenario where a backup that I thought was ok, wasn't. Which would be the worse thing a backup client could do to you. In its defence, Arq does persistently moan at me that there is a problem that I should be aware of.
