>That night, I couldn’t help but wonder how his life would have changed if it never happened. I was surprised to see that in the final film, there’s a moment where Ghyslain talks about our meeting, and wonders exactly the same thing.
On the one hand I find it surprising that one would be surprised, I would think it's the first thing one would think. When a life has a big linchpin event it would be natural to wonder gee, what if that hadn't happened.
On the other hand, internet virality is often associated with some silly thing that nobody would ever even have remembered a year later before the internet, so it does seem weird to be wondering how would their life have changed if they never made that jokey video when they were a kid because probably it would not be the kind of thing that was wondered in the past.
I mean stuff that one might wonder about me - what if my mother had not married an American when I was 6, what if I had gone directly into college instead of the army when I got out of high school, etc. are the kind of normal things to wonder about in the arc of a life and pretty much everyone has those, like what if you hadn't gotten married or your parents hadn't divorced or your father didn't take that job in Canada or whatever. Mundane things to wonder about, but there are now some people around who wonder - man, what would have happened if Charlie hadn't bitten that finger, or what if I hadn't made that silly video cause I thought it was cool.
Nowadays people get out of their way to stage embarrassing accidents caught on video in order to go viral and have a shot at being Internet celebrities.
