I would love to see more law firms do this, or at least use Nextcloud instead of the sketchy "secure file storage" clouds they utilize today. Even if I asked the firms I interact with to purge my files, neither I nor they could prove that all backups of the files are purged. Having control over the full chain of custody of files would be a big improvement in that industry in my opinion.
That said I would not expect many law firms to do this. A technical person is required and all the firms I have dealt with squeeze every bit of money out of everything they can.
