What's the economics behind such DDOS attacks? What's their motivation

There was some controversy recently where people were upset about rainbow flags on Lichess. Maybe it's them. Or maybe it's the same people who were DDOSing Chess.com last week. Either way they suck...

Competitors, mental health, power tripping, extortion, sore loser and kids playing pay DDOS attacker provider.
