Plant-based meat is the ‘future,’ Bill Gates claims. What has to change? (euronews.com)

Bill Gates has purchased over 300,000 acres of farm land in the US and is still buying. Could this be a factor in his beliefs?

It may be he sees the direction the market clearly has to go and is making a bet that humanity chooses to survive rather than face civilisation collapse and hence he is in a position to profit well from that. He could also be the change he wishes to see buying and using farm land for the products that make a future possible. There are a number of possibilities for why he might make those purchases and making these comments, they are almost certainly linked in some way.

yea no thanks plant based meat is disgusting, like back of the train snowpiercer disgusting.

not really no, plus I order my cow from the farm down the way, even drop in from time to time to see how things are going. Even have one set aside for veal yum

:))

Ever looked at the ingredients list in a Beyond Burger? Gotta wonder what half of those things even are…

Abominations like "plant-based meat" can be seen as the logical consequences of utilitarianism, AKA the ideology of paperclip maximizers.

The world's population of over 8 billion people cannot adopt the same diet as Americans do. If everyone did, we would require more than 5 Earths to sustain such consumption, which unfortunately, we do not possess.

Plant-based diet is the only one that can feet 10 billion people.

Vegans don't require plant-based meats. We're happy eating fruits, vegetables, grains, legumes, nuts, and seeds. These products are being developed for carnivores to facilitate an easier transition for them.

It's not an abomination; it's plant-based protein. Currently, we already consume 63% of our protein from plant sources, and 82% of our calories come from plants.

You can easily prepare plant-based meat at home by mixing plant-based protein (essentially flour), water, salt, spices, and a spoonful of oil. Cook the mixture using steam or in vegetable stock. It's that simple.

The TRUE abomination is the lack of respect that we have for this planet, including the lack of respect for food by calling certain foods abominations.

We are not even allowed to hate certain kinds of food anymore?
