Why take up arms and not reconfigure Germany's complacent auto industry for APCs production instead of diesel luxury sedans?
It's currently a supply chain issue - Ukraine needs more shells, more mobile artilery, more armoured vehicles. The rest of Europe need it as well. Russia won't attack if the EU is armed to the teeth.
That's what the guy is saying: arm yourselves, train your people. Just like Poland is doing.
He has taken a decade to take 4 provinces of Ukraine that no one in Germany cares about. At that pace he will be long dead before he gets to the German border. Mental bankruptcy sacrificing the nord stream pipeline, and industry taking a giant hit to spend time planning to defend Moldova. Germans have squandered away their position of strength just reacting and counter reacting for no sane reason.
> He has taken a decade to take 4 provinces of Ukraine that no one in Germany cares about.
Well those provinces were taken quite quickly after he started a shooting war. Crimea was also taken fast. And things are only slowing down because we're helping Ukraine. Without our support they would have been lost already.
> At that pace he will be long dead before he gets to the German border.
Things can accelerate of course. And also, this is not how Europe works. I'm from Holland, should we not worry until he gets past you in Germany? No, we're one family. The Polish are a lot more worried than you. Moldova already has the transnistria problem.
> Mental bankruptcy sacrificing the nord stream pipeline, and industry taking a giant hit to spend time planning to defend Moldova.
The effectiveness of the sanctions were indeed debatable. But we can't keep funding a regime that is causing a war on our borders of course.
> Germans have squandered away their position of strength
Germany had no military strength to speak of, most of the equipment was down for maintenance for the last decade. In fact they are in a better place now since the threat of Russia has freed up military spending.
