Yeah there's a service called "Too Good to Go" available in select larger cities in the US that allows you to purchase "old" food and save it from waste. The whole point of the service is to enable consumption of goods past the sell-by date. Here[1] their website (perhaps biased) claims that a broad range of the dates don't matter for one's health.
