Does it select for intellect? I don’t think so. In modern times, there are enough resources around for most people to breed as they wish. Family size in developed nations is probably not even correlated to education or intelligence. It might actually be negative. If there’s an indirect evolutionary arc, I’ve no idea what we are genetically “optimizing” currently. It’s definitely not intelligence.
